Xeomin®

Xeomin® is an FDA-approved injectable treatment for reducing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. Like BOTOX® Cosmetic, Xeomin is derived from the botulinum toxin. As a highly purified neurotoxin, Xeomin® blocks the nerves that trigger the muscles that cause wrinkles and fine lines. By blocking these nerves, the muscle contractions stop and the wrinkles and lines soften.

What Makes Xeomin® Diffrent from BOTOX® Cosmetic

Xeomin® is considered “naked,” meaning that there are no added ingredients or preservatives.  This can reduce the risk of allergic reactions to the treatment. Furthermore, it is the only treatment derived from the botulinum toxin that does not need to be refrigerated before treatment.

What to Expect During Treatment

Xeomin treatment typically take about 10 minutes. However, this varies depending on the number of injections and locations that are being treated.

Are there any long term side-effects?

With Botox, there are no long term side effects.

Temporary side effects due to inexperienced or incorrect injections might be loss of facial expressions or asymmetrical facesTherefore, always make sure you choose a certified medical clinic and an experienced doctor.

Better or worse then Botox?

Xeomin is the first one that does not need to be refrigerated before use, which may simplify distribution. Xeomin is also has no additives, just botulinum toxin type A. This may mean that there is less risk of developing antibodies against Xeomin than other available neurotoxins. The body develops antibodies in response to a foreign invader and attacks. In theory, antibodies could prevent a neurotoxin from having its desired effects. The effects of Xeomin occur within one week, and the results last from three to six months, making it comparable to Botox in terms of both onset and duration of action. Xeomin should not be used interchangeably with other botulinum products.
